NaBloPoMo
Stay tuned....
We're Live!!

Happy Halloween!
In this picture, I know she is saying "Yes, I am quite cute. Please take my picture."

In this picture, she is saying "um, not now Mom, the game is on!"
"Is this big orange thing used to prop me up? That's a good idea there, mommy."
And a little happy fall greeting from the dogs (minus B since this picture was taken last year. Not leaving B out on purpose, they just aren't the easiest group to photograph together and I wasn't allowed to buy more costumes this year!)

WAHM Christmas Extravaganza!

Monday, October 29, 2007
It's my birthday, I'll do what I want.
The most exciting thing going on at the moment for me is my knitting. Go ahead, roll your eyes. I'll wait. [pause]
So Friday afternoon, I spent time at Loops in Tulsa finding some great stuff. I've been invited to sell my knitted goods online during the month of November for a Christmas Extravaganza! So I started this weekend with getting my wares together to post online. I'm quite excited. It will be the first time I'm selling under my "Little Pink Bunny Hand Knits" moniker. I'll continue to add stuff as I've got it made. But hopefully I'll have quite a bit ready to go for Thursday. I'll definitely keep you updated.
And then the ultimate knitting compliment was handed down by my members-only knitting website. The feature tons of patters from lots of different knit designers. Each pattern has its own page that has pictures of the best examples of the pattern made my members of the site. Then you can link to pictures of all the others that have been made by the members. Well, the sweater I made for Navarre for the baby shower is now the feature picture on that particular pattern page!!! I'd link to it, but can't since it's a members only page. Anyway, I was completely excited and honored about that. Ravelry (the website) has some tremendous knitting talent on it and MY FINISHED OBJECT is being featured!!!
The girls at work surprised me with a birthday cake and lunch, so things are good. I'll have pictures tomorrow. Now I'm headed home to get in bed and watch Monday Night Football and do a little knitting. It's my birthday, so I can do what I want to! And I want to knit and watch football from bed!

Let this be a lesson!
So last night, I remembered and gave myself my shot and got in the bath tub. I knew I missed last week but well, I'll be OK, right? After a short little soak, I got into bed. It was around 10:30. I picked up my book to read and my throat started to feel funny. I thought it would pass. It did not.
Without saying anything or reacting to the situation, I asked T for a glass of water. Because he's wonderful, he got out of bed and got it for me. In the 5 minutes it took him to come back with it, my throat was feeling a little tighter, no longer so easy to swallow. So I said calmly, "I think my throat is swelling closed. Will you bring me my medicine bag in my purse?" He brought it to me and his phone rang. So he left the room to answer it. I took some Benadryl and hoped it would reverse this trend of increasing doom. I never freaked out. I just handled it calmly. The epi-pen was now at my bedside in case I needed to use it.
Naturally, it got worse before it got better. I was never unable to breathe; I just had to concentrate on it. And after about 20 minutes the medicine kicked in and the swelling made a retreat. A few minutes later, T came back into the room and asked how I was doing. I said, "much better now that the medicine has kicked in and I can breathe freely."
Well, you guessed it - he freaked out! He said he didn't know it was that bad. To which I replied, "What about 'my throat is swelling closed' was unclear?" That made him feel bad, which wasn't my goal. He thought I was being dramatic because I didn't say it all freaking out.
So let this be a less to him and me! For him, if I EVER ask for the medicine bag out of my purse in relation to allergy related stuff, it could be serious. For me, DON'T MISS A STUPID SHOT! (turns out I may have missed more than one)
But all is well and I slept quite soundly thanks to the Benadryl!

You know you're an Okie if....

black, low, churning clouds - check
lightening - check
hail - check
orange sky - check
serious wind - check
So there we were standing on our front lawn, looking east at this mass of clouds... and just staring in awe at all of it's ferociousness.
And that, my friends, is how you know you're an Okie. When you think a tornado is coming, you go outside to look at it as opposed to seeking shelter. I guess we officially are Okies, since we stood in the yard and looked at it and all the neighbors were out there too. HA!

It's just a little rain
We went to the Oklahoma Centennial Parade today and it was great. I forgot my camera so I took pictures with Lea's until the camera battery went dead. When she sends them to me, I'll upload a few. It was a pretty great day considering the weather now. We had quite a bit of fun.
New Mantra Needed!
It's just a game... It's just a game.... It's just a game, played by
kids.... It's just a game!
So we lost... in triple overtime.... to KENTUCKY! Now, I guess I should feel better that Kentucky was ranked #14, but come on.... WE WERE #1! We should really emphasize the word WERE.
It's not like I've never watched LSU lose before. Are you kidding me? Curly Hallman was coach when I started at LSU as a freshman. Needless to say, it wasn't hard to get into the stadium on game day, at halftime and walk right down to the closest seats on the field and sit. I've cheered through DiNardo's last seasons when the magic may have been there, but the wins weren't.
So I've watched them lose. I've watched them beat #1's (remember 1997 vs. Florida? That's why Steve Spurrier still hates us) But I've never watched them lose AS A #1!
What does it mean to our championship hopes? I have no idea. Doesn't bode well, I'm sure. We'll need to win out and have other teams above us lose. Will I still be upset tomorrow? I guess now it's time to repeat the new mantra....
it's just a game.... it's just a game.... just a game played by kids!

Copper, I don't think we're in Louisiana anymore!
For the last 2 weeks, about 4 times an hour, there has been a commercial promoting the latest fundraiser for the Oklahoma Museum of Art. Every fall they have a fundraiser called "Art on Tap." Instead of a wine tasting with art, it's a beer tasting with art. Sounds like great fun and I'm sure it is. I've wanted to go the last 2 years, but it always falls at a bad time.
This commercial that I'm now hearing ALL THE TIME, says to "come enjoy...yadda yadda yadda... Stella Are-TOYS". YES, YOU READ RIGHT! Stella ARE-TOYS! Seriously, people? ARE-TOYS?
I know I need to get over it, but geez!!! We are a big city! We are a capital city! This is a huge ART fundraiser of supposedly wordly people! COME ON! ARE-TOYS?
Ok, I'll let it go.

Our little LSU baby!

Navarre's Daddy is trying to start her a little young on the trumpet. Although, I guess if the mouthpiece fits completely over your mouth, you can form that good seal you need to form, huh?

I don't know if my heart can take it!
So it's Sunday and we decided to grill some burgers. Our latest favorite burger is to mix a pound of ground meet with a pound of deer meat. So T went to the garage to get a pound of deer meat out of the freezer. And the foul smell we had noticed this morning, unfortunately wasn't the garbage. Without even opening the freezer, he saw the light was not on. Somehow (and we are guessing about a week ago) the breaker tripped on the freezer. Yes, we lost everything. The everything included 2 deer and one very large hog - backstrap, steaks, hams, ribs, ground meat. And one box of Manda green onion sausage brought all the way back from BR in August.
We are trying not to get too upset over it, but well..... we're upset over it.
