Karma

It is what it is. That's what I've been telling Claudia all week long. Kind of stupid, I know. But when there is nothing left to say about something OR if it's happened and now you have to move on, I'd say, "it is what it is."

Well, we can definitely say that about last night. Either that or it was Karma kicking me in the butt.

Shelly and I went out for drinks after work. Turns out both work places thought it would be good to let us go early, so we got started at 4:00. We went to a new place to us downtown, RedPin. It's a bar with a bowling alley in it. Quite fun! It was very modern, with a reclycled glass bar top and loads of other fun features. It's located right in the middle of everything downtown on the Bricktown Canal.

As we were leaving, Shelly decided that the red back lit wall section in between the two doors was the door and was pushing with all of her might to get out. I started laughing so hard that I stumbled out of the actual doors. We are on the lower level by the canal and my laugh is so loud that it echos and everyone turns to look at us. I couldn't help it. I couldn't stop laughing.

So where's the karma part? Yeah, I'm getting to that.

We walked to the car with me still laughing and then choking because I was laughing so hard. At that point, it had taken on a life of it's own and I couldn't stop laughing. Since it was after 9pm and we'd been there since 4, we knew what we needed - IHOP! There is an ihop downtown, so we headed over there.

As we were walking inside, Shelly pointed out a couple making out in a truck that we had just walked in front of. I guess it's like a car accident, you can't help but look. So I turned around and was no longer watching where I was walking. And that's when it happened.

Karma happened. I tripped over a large 3" gaping raised section of sidewalk. There was no graceful fall. There was no stumble then catching myself. I went down. I fell hard and fast. It was like a cartoon. I fell out of my shoes. There was blood. And I almost ripped my relatively new blue jeans.

Shelly laughed but was more concerned that I was ok. I'm ok, just learn from my lesson. Don't piss off karma on a Friday night. Apparently her justice is swift and painful.
