Seeing as it was our anniversary last night, T was going to drive into OKC and meet me at work. We'd then enjoy a dinner of sushi at our favorite sushi place across town. After he left work, he had to stop by the house and make sure fix-it guy came and then he'd be on his way. I expected him about 6.
I had a couple of errands to run but would be back to the office (where he would meet me and we'd leave a car) by 5:45. At 5:38, my cell phone rings as I'm headed back to the office. He's talking in short, one or two word sentences and not making a lot of sense. I can tell he's really mad so I'm worried that he's been in an accident.
He calms down enough to tell me that fix-it guy didn't come. He'll call us tomorrow. Yeah, let's don't even start on that one. Ok, so next thing. He's on the side of the road and his truck is not working. His back tires were locking up and when one of them was smoking when he stopped. He was probably a mile from the house. So I said that I'm on my way but since I'm not back to my office (which I have to lock up), it will probably be 45 minutes before I'm there.
So about 35 minutes later and when I'm almost there, he calls me from home to tell me he got it to the house once it cooled off. We rethink dinner plans and decide to go to the steakhouse located in the close by casino. It's a very nice restaurant and a special occasion kind of place.
We find a parking spot right by the door, so Smith Luck is changing! We get upstairs and the steakhouse is closed. oooooookkkkkk. So to the sports bar we go. Our anniversary dinner was a cheesburger for me and a turkey sandwhich for him. BUT it was 2 for 1 domestic beers, so yay.
To the casino floor we go, thinking our luck certainly has to change. Well, not on the slots for me. It took my money as fast as I could press that little button. T did OK at the blackjack tables - he broke even. So all in all, we probably spent the same amount of money we would have on sushi but not exactly the evening we had in mind.
As for the truck, T drove it to the shop in Harrah about a mile from our house and then rode his bicycle home. There are real advantages to living in a small town sometimes - at least living IN THE TOWN and not on the outskirts.

Not exactly how it was planned

Sounds like a good script for a weeknight comedy! The important thing is you were together!
Happy Anniversary.
I love you,
Mom
