Well, actually we are off the road for now. At least as far as I know. We spent this past weekend back in Baton Rouge. It was unplanned and last minute. My Paw Paw passed away this past Thursday morning (June 5th). He had been sick for a long time.
Actually if you asked Paw Paw, he was always sick. He probably hired and fired every doctor in Baton Rouge. But I guess that was part of his charm. Paw Paw loved his tractor and his garden and his dog, Pa'put (all of them). And he didn't like paying $15 for a haircut. He thought that was too much, so one Easter he let me cut it. It didn't matter that I'd only cut Leslie's hair in a straight line before.
Paw Paw always liked meeting my friends from all over the country and would tell colorful stories and entertain them while Mee Maw prepared a down home Louisiana feast. And when I built my house in Baton Rouge and only lived 15 minutes from them, he would always drive by the house and check on things for me (didn't matter if I was home on not).
So on top of the normal Monday blahs, I'm tired (1400 miles in 58 hours) and sad.

Paw Paw was one in a million. He admired and loved you kids, despite the fact that he couldn't understand how you lived. He worried about you all, being out after dark and living alone. We will all miss him.
Sorry to hear of your family's loss. It's wonderful you have so many great memories.
I am sorry to hear about your grand father. He was a wonderful person. I enjoyed his stories. I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
