I've got a new toy of sorts. I've convinced my boss to bring all design work in house and put me in charge of it. Not like that was a hard decision, there are only 2 of us. And it's not like we had a lot of out-sourced design work. But in a move to help re-brand our industry, I get to be more creative and do actual print publications.
We do have a magazine and website - both of which I have to redesign in the next 6 months. No biggie, right? I'm excited but flipping out a little. Ok, a lot. But I'm excited for the chance.
So we purchased Adobe Creative Suite 3, which includes Photoshop and other programs, but I'll just stick with Photoshop for now. This program can do so many things, it's pretty amazing. I was just playing around one day after work to see how it works. I took a picture that I had taken back in May at the Botanical Gardens but didn't like. In fact, I disliked the picture so much that I didn't even print it. The composition was fine but the exposure was wrong, etc.
This is the original.
This is the new and improved picture!! This one I actually want to print and hang on my wall. And I might just do it.

Now, it's not a perfect photo, but it's greatly improved. And for not knowing what I was doing, I thought it came out pretty well.

YOU GO GIRL!!!
(I'll admit, I AM a little - ok, a lot - jealous that you got CS3!!)....JEALOUS! :)
Wow, great pic. I have photoshop too, but haven't had the chance to sit and learn just what it can do. Maybe that will be my resolution for next year. Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

What is Photoshop? Where do you get it? Do you think the fact that I don't even know what it is gives me a fighting chance of being able to use it? Am I technologically challenged, or what? I recognize the pic, Nic. Great touch up. Mine look like the "before" photo.
