World's Worst Type-O

So we discovered we had a leak in the pipe that leads to the outside faucet. We've just been procrastinating getting it fixed (didn't leak when it was turned off - just turned on). And then we started having sewer issues. Nice, huh?

We finally called a plumber to come out and look at them both. Leaky pipe you can live with for a while. Sewer problems - not so much!

T sent me an instant message to tell me they were finished and that the cost was $1135. Yes, you read that right. I FLIPPED OUT! I was thinking, MAYBE $500 max... MAX (and that was if they had fixed the hole they cut into the wall.

After reading my reaction, he realized a tiny mistake. He had typed one too many "1's" in that price. So he quickly responded that the cost was $135 - which was much more reasonable and I was ok coming home to find this:

Not a great sight in the dining room - especially considering we found THIS at the bottom of it:

So I imagine we'll be tearing all the sheetrock out and fixing it. But at least we know the leak is fixed. I'm not looking forward to that project. Maybe after hunting season is over with (which is in February).

The joys of homeownership.....

Just think....if you thought it was $1,135 and it was really $135, that means you now have $1,000 to fix the moldy sheet rock in the dining room!!

Like my economics?? :-D

I feel your pain! Ditto the "joys of homeownership". Thank goodness for type-o's.
