The fumes clouded my eyes

I had to stop and get gas this morning. Not an usual occurence given my daily commute, but this morning was different. Everyone knows that prices at the pump have been falling due to less demand (sidenote: less demand certainly isn't coming from Commuter City, Oklahoma). But I guess I didn't really quantify in my head what $1.69 at the pump means.

I know that it's been a tremendously long time since I've seen gas that low. I'm guessing somewhere in the 2005 range. So this morning, I started the pump and the fastest auto setting shut off almost immediately. I put it on the middle setting and that seemed to work. I got back into the car because the wind was howling and it was chilly.

The pump cut off again and I looked at the price. It said $26.47 and I knew that amount couldn't possibly fill up my vehicle. Funny thing - the gallons was close to the right amount though. I got out and topped off the tank. I filled up my mid-sized SUV for $27.00!

I'm not sure the last time I filled up for $27! I do know at the height of oil prices, it cost me in the area of $70. It was $100 to fill up the truck - sometimes more, depending just how long T had ridden around with the gas light on.

$27! I still can't believe it.

Cathy Wood, Y'all - Take 2

Cathy finally made it into town on Friday afternoon. She luckily landed to 35 mph winds. We were happy she could experience our light, balmy breezes. Saturday we shopped. We shopped till I dropped. The mall was packed, but she got a lot of Christmas shopping done and I was able to just about finish mine.

Sunday we just hung out. And she left early this morning. It was a short visit, but just like old times.

On the list ... Totino's plate sized pizzas, Spaghetti-o's with meatballs.

It figures...

Yesterday morning, I had to stop and get gas. The station right by my house finally had gas for $1.99 (that price and lower had been popping up all over the metro in recent weeks). I was pretty darn happy. I filled up for $30. I can't even remember the last time that happened.

So consider my chagrin when I came home late last night and drove past the station. It was down to $1.89!! I have no idea why it dropped 10 cents in one day, but in the grand scheme of things, I don't mind. It just figures.....
