Today is just one of those days. I'd think it was Monday, if I didn't know it was Wednesday. This morning while trying to fix my hair, it just wasn't happening. Turns out the weather today is one of those hot, muggy, thick air days that are so common during the summer in Louisiana, but rare here. So not only am I sporting just a ponytail of crazy hair, but it also needed to be tamed with a headband.
I get to work and things are going fine. I went to the fridge to get my mid-morning snack. My snack is a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese and Melba Rounds. For those of you not familiar with this particular cheese, it's a small wedge of spreadable cheese that is low in calories but oh so tasty!
I'm sitting at my desk, unwrapping the little wedge when it flies out of the foil packaging. What do you do when you drop something into your lap? You automatically shut your legs to catch it. Well, I turned my cheese wedge into a cheese blob. ALL OVER MY PANTS!
I'm wearing dark denim so it doesn't scream CHEESEPANTS... but I'm not sure I intended my snack to be garlic, herb and denim cheese on Melba rounds. There is no telling what this kind of afternoon will hold. I envision spilling something on my shirt.... but well, that's a given!
UPDATE: Stephanie, I think you'd love Laughing Cow cheese. HA!

Blending in while wearing pink
I like pink. That shouldn't be a big shock to anyone. Dressy clothes - pink. Casual clothes - pink. You know... just a lot of pink.
Well, this past weekend, that was a good thing. In fact, it was assumed I was part of the larger group even though I wasn't. I went to Dallas this past weekend to visit Julie (oh and to shop if there was time). Julie was in town for the Mary Kay convention.
Mary Kay = Pink
I had a good time and met some very nice ladies from New Jersey who sell Mary Kay. Julie and I got to catch up. I even got to stop at IKEA and a couple of local yarn stores. All in all, a very good trip!
Julie, Karen & Jeanine - I had a great trip! Thanks!!
P.S. No, I did not attend the conference. And no, I do not sell Mary Kay now. If you'd like to place an order, contact Julie.

The Falcones have landed!
Yesterday when I got home from work, I was greeted by Leslie, Jamie, Navarre and 7,000 toys and pieces of baby paraphernalia. We spent last night just relaxing and getting them unpacked and clothes washed, etc.
Navarre hasn't met the dogs yet, one on one, but we did open the door so she could see them. She got this big, excited look of awe on her face and looked at Leslie, as if to say "THAT'S A DOG! AND IT'S RIGHT THERE! AND I'M THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WHOLE WORLD!"
Tonight, we'll probably introduce them. I'll have the camera ready.

Countdown...
And I think I've figured out why. This article articulates what I wasn't quite able to. Probably why this guy is a sports writer and I'm just a sports watcher.

Route 66 Icon
Living in Oklahoma, we aren't far from Route 66. In fact, one of the newest icons along Route 66 opened last year. It's a gas station, restaurant, convenience store and all around neat place to visit in a nice, ultra modern package called Pops.
I took Jolie and Aunt Betty to visit over the weekend. In fact, we made 2 trips. The big feature is the 66 foot soda bottle that is cool in the daytime but lights up at night. Also at Pops, they have just about any kind of bottle soft drink you can think of. They boast they have nearly 500 different varieties. Looking for 5 flavors of Jolt Cola? Well, Pops has them all.
It was a pretty neat trip. I recommend it to anyone in the area. For the Route 66 enthusiasts out there, it's just west of the Round Barn in Arcadia.
I'll add some pictures from the visit tonight.
