Productive Procrastination

I have not moved much today from the recliner. And I've been procrastinating what I really need to do - clean the house and make the curtains for the nursery. These are the two things that I said I was going to do this weekend.

These are two things I have not even remotely started.

BUT, I have been somewhat productive. Two weeks ago I decided that I absolutely had to knit the baby a sweater to come home from the hospital in. HAD TO! I picked yarn (that I already had) and buttons (that I already had) and a pattern (that I did not have). I ordered the book online for the pattern with a gift card. So, it's an heirloom baby sweater for NO DOLLARS!

Last weekend, I cast on and started. And apparently I've forgotten how to knit. I started the sweater and was not at all happy with the result. So last Sunday, I ripped out everything I had done and started over. I ended Sunday basically where I had started, but at least it was perfect.

Monday, I knitted some more. Tuesday a little more. Wednesday I realized the stuff I'd done on Monday and Tuesday was crap, so I ripped it out again and was back to where I finished on Sunday. Thursday and Friday was spent making progress, or so I thought. I noticed another mistake and spent tons of time ripping back more.

This is not a mindless project for me. It's lace knitting with a relatively easy pattern to remember - just 4 row repeats. But it's taken me a while to actually make some progress on it. As I put it down now, I'm halfway through it. So since I think I'm at a good stopping place, I'll leave it till tomorrow... um... or another time since tomorrow I'm supposed to be cleaning and sewing....

Yes, that's what I'll be doing..... cleaning and sewing....
