Adventures in Babyfeeding

As we approach Caroline turning 4 months old, we've been preparing to start her on solid foods. She's been watching us eat with interest, and she can sit up now, so I purchased a can of rice cereal and was planning on trying it out this weekend.

But last weekend, she just couldn't get enough to eat. So I figured we'd give it a go. T put the high chair together and we strapped her in. I mixed it with formula and it was quite runny. I tasted it to see what it was like - tasted very sweet like her formula with a hint of the rice.
She was not at all sure what to make about eating from a spoon or the actual cereal. She made some horrendous faces, but ate about half of what we gave her, which wasn't much - maybe a couple of spoons of it. Copper, on the other hand, could not wait to get a hold of that bowl full of goodness! In fact, I think when Copper saw the high chair go up, she was like "HOT DAMN! This is what I've been waiting for since that noisemaker showed up!"

We did wait a couple of days before we tried again. And the second time around, she was much more receptive.

She is still not sure about this eating-from-a-spoon business. And I think the texture weirds her out too.

But in the end, she ate quite a bit of it. And seemed to be quite content.

Yes, some of it did actually make it into her mouth.

That last picture has to be you when you were that age! I've seen that look before.

She is so darling. I must see her soon before she grows much more!
