Last month when our chilly Fall weather started, I went to Old Navy and picked up a few things and spent $40. And these things were on sale. I was happy with my purchases - 2 long sleeve onesies, 2 pairs of pants and 1 long sleeve, one-piece outfit.
Here's the problem - half of the stuff doesn't fit anymore. She's worn it maybe a couple of times. Did she grow THAT much? Did it shrink? My guess is yes and yes. So I vowed never to buy her anything new again.
And yes, Internet, I'm aware that I will totally disregard that. I already have. But I went online looking for "previously-owned" baby clothes in good brands that I knew would last. I found a lady on craigslist looking to sell some of her daughter's clothes. She had a huge range of sizes, so I was looking for Navarre too.
I brought some cash with me but not nearly enough. I walked into used clothing nirvana. Most of it was Gymboree (which is great clothing but very pricey), with some Gap and Ralph Lauren. After sorting through a couple of bins, I looked up to this HUGE pile on the bed. I asked if she would take a check... she laughed and said she would.
She made me an offer, which was VERY reasonable. It was just more than I had planned to spend. So I made a counter offer and expected her to meet me somewhere in the middle. Well, lo and behold, she accept my very low offer! I wound up paying less than $5 a piece for the clothes and got the MOST BEAUTIFUL silver brocade coat that Caroline won't be able to wear until next year. But I couldn't pass it up.
I was so excited that I called Leslie talking a 100 mph after I left the lady's house. I've even mailed Navarre's stuff already.
Caroline is rapidly approaching the 30" limit on her infant car seat. So I've started searching for her next car seat. I'll buy used and no-name for a lot of stuff, but not her car seat. Naturally the one that I want is insanely expensive. Imagine my surprise when I found one online, brand new, for 40% off! And yes, I bought it - got free shipping too!
My last good deal this week comes by way of my new hairdresser. Yes, I am back in the salon. We talked about what I wanted to do and because I'm going back in about a week for highlights, she gave me a deal on my cut and color yesterday. I basically didn't pay for the haircut!! I've never gotten a deal on my hair before.
I'm very proud of all my deals... although T keeps reminding me of the amount that I actually spent.

OMG, where did my two girls come from? While I must admit my obsession with clothes and shoes has, at times, taken over my good sense, you did pick up on my patience to wait for the right price to come along in the way of china and crystal! Because that, my dears, we can live without. Clothes and shoes, we CANNOT! Way to go, Nicole!
Just remember you will never be able to teach female math to a man!
Hey girl...I was just reading this, and realized I never re-sent you my hair person's info. Who did you wind up going to? Sorry about that. Let me know if you still want the info.
